Wiwiek Pudjiastuti, Director of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries of the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, delivered a speech congratulating the ICIA on its inauguration, and highlighted the critical contributions of Risun Wei Shan and two other founding members in drafting the association’s charter, completing government registrations, and coordinating with ministries such as the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and other government departments. Relevant data and research results have shown that that the coking industry has the potential to become an important driver for Indonesia’s Industry 4.0 goals, and its six key roles of Coking are as follows:
Support the Steel Industry and Build a Regional Manufacturing Center: Coke self-sufficiency can reduce steel production costs and help Indonesia gradually transition from being a net importer of steel to being an exporter, thereby enhancing its regional industrial competitiveness
Promote Industrial Chain Synergy and the Formation of Industrial Clusters: Ports, logistics facilities and machinery manufacturing industries are developing simultaneously, forming an integrated ecosystem of “coking-steel-port-trade”.
Promote Technological Transfer and Industrial Modernization: In particular, investment by Chinese enterprises like Risun WeiShan has already brought advanced technologies and management experience, promoting the upgrading of industrial technologies in Indonesia.
Attract Foreign Investment and Deepen Regional Economic Cooperation: As a key area for Indonesia to attract foreign investment, the development of the coking industry will strengthen its position as a regional industrial hub.
Promote Employment and Progress in Social Industrialization: The coking industry can create a large number of jobs and plays an important role in accelerating the industrialization of Indonesian society.
Reduce Dependence on Resources and Increase Industrial Added Value: Convert coal into high-value industrial products, reducing reliance on raw material exports.
The establishment of ICIA signifies a new era of coordinated, standardized growth for Indonesia’s coking sector. The Association ill fully play the role as a bridge and link, it will strengthen the overall coordination of the industry, establish more active and effective engagement with the Indonesian government and relevant departments, and provide better coordination and guidance to coking enterprises. This will help accurately align the direction of the industry, consolidate its strengths, promote order, optimize its environment, and protect the rights and interests of the industry. This will ensure better and faster development of the industry and enterprises, thereby better meeting the needs of the local economy and society, leading ultimately to mutual progress and mutual benefits for all relevant parties.
The Group will continue to rely on its technological, management and global operational advantages in the coking industry, and through its Indonesian operating entities, such as Risun Wei Shan, to participate in and support the Association's work, and to join hands with its Indonesian partners to promote technological innovation, green upgrading and sustainable development of the coking industry.
