The Chinese ferrous metallurgy industry standard YB/T 6275-2024, “Determination of α-Methylnaphthalene and β-Methylnaphthalene Content in Wash Oil by Gas Chromatography”, proposed by the China Iron and Steel Association and officially released for the first time by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, came into effect on May 1, 2025. According to the arrangement of the standards committee, Risun Group’s Xingtai Risun Coking Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Xingtai Risun Coking Chemical”) participated in drafting this industry standard and played a positive and constructive role in the compilation process.
The document specifies the gas chromatographic method for determining the content of α-methylnaphthalene and β-methylnaphthalene in wash oil, including the test principle, equipment, procedures, results, permissible deviation, and test report. It is applicable to the quantification of these compounds in wash oil. The standard's implementation has five key effects:
It raises the level of detection technology and, through methodological innovation, improves testing efficiency and safety. It promotes quality control and industrial upgrading for wash oil, filling the gap in specialized detection methods for α/β-methylnaphthalene, and allows parameter adjustments based on instrument performance, thus enhancing methodological flexibility. Meanwhile, it supports efficient resource utilization and green development by enabling independent quantification of α/β-methylnaphthalene and enhancing the extraction and utilization of high-value components such as methylnaphthalene, quinoline, and fluorene from wash oil fractions. In addistion, it strengthens enterprise discourse power, highlighting the company’s leading role in coal coking analysis as well as improves the standard system for coking products by aligning horizontally with standards such as Industrial Methylnaphthalene (YB/T 5154) and Determination of Naphthalene in Coke Oven Gas (YB/T 4929), and vertically supporting downstream development in wash oil production, applications, and product innovation in pharmaceuticals and dyes.
During the drafting process, Xingtai Risun Coking Chemical tailored technical requirements for wash oil, conducted relevant experimental research, and carried out systematic analysis on testing procedures, phenomena, and data. This resulted in the establishment of fundamental detection methods and a standard framework. Their contributions not only addressed key industry challenges but also promoted product quality enhancement, efficient resource use, and systematized standard development through technical innovation. It reflects Risun’s strong technical strength and leading position in the coal tar deep processing sector.
