China Risun Group today announced that its hydrogen business unit, Risun Hydrogen, has successfully obtained the National Clean Hydrogen Certification for the third consecutive year, reaffirming its leadership in clean energy production and supply. This milestone follows record-breaking hydrogen output in November 2025, when monthly production and sales exceeded 2.85 million Nm³, further consolidating Risun’s dominant position in the hydrogen market nationwide, particularly across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Setting the Benchmark for Clean Hydrogen
Since first achieving certification on March 17, 2023, Risun Hydrogen has consistently met the rigorous standards outlined by the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicle Demonstration Evaluation Platform. Subsequent certifications were awarded on March 19, 2024, and February 6, 2025, making Risun one of the first domestic suppliers to earn this recognition three years in a row.
Certification data shows that Risun Hydrogen’s full life-cycle carbon emissions are only 0.49 kg CO₂e/kg H₂, 90% lower than the national clean hydrogen threshold of 5 kg CO₂e/kg H₂. This performance also surpasses the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requirement of 4.4 kg CO₂e/kg H₂, underscoring that Risun’s hydrogen products meet the highest global standards.
Demonstrated Low-Carbon Technology Strength
Through proprietary innovation and comprehensive carbon management, Risun Hydrogen has significantly reduced the carbon footprint of its hydrogen production. Advanced separation and purification technologies deliver hydrogen purity of 99.999%, which is transported via pipelines and long-tube trailers to fueling stations, establishing an industry-leading low-carbon production and distribution model.
Risun has also contributed to drafting two national hydrogen standards and multiple industry guidelines, while developing key technologies such as ortho-para hydrogen conversion catalysts. The company is actively advancing the construction of a full liquid hydrogen value chain, laying the foundation to become a clean energy supplier, ecosystem integrator, advanced technology developer, and trusted partner in energy transition.
Strong Industrial Application Results
Leveraging its position as the world’s largest independent coke producer, Risun has access to 5.3 billion Nm³ of hydrogen resources annually. The company has established four high-purity hydrogen production bases in Dingzhou, Xingtai, Tangshan, and Hohhot, with five production lines totaling 34 tons/day capacity and five fueling stations with a combined dispensing capacity of 7 tons/day. These facilities enable annual CO₂ emission reductions of 58,000 tons.
Risun is now the second-largest hydrogen supplier in China and the leading supplier in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Its clean hydrogen products not only reduce customer costs but also help achieve carbon reduction targets. In logistics, Risun Hydrogen has obtained hazardous goods transport qualifications, operates a dedicated fleet with 5.5 tons/day transport capacity, and runs five hydrogen-powered heavy truck routes with 142 vehicles in stable operation. The company is also advancing long-distance hydrogen pipelines and blending projects to build a regional hydrogen network, enhancing supply security and cost efficiency.
